Have you ever played Bocce?

Most people answer, “What?”

Some of heard of the french Boules or the more common bowls and petanque.  But it is basically about throwing your balls as close to the jack as possible.  So you first of all throw the jack, which is a slightly smaller ball, out about 5 metres away.  Then you throw your balls as close as you can to the jack. Each player or team can also knock their opponents balls or the jack out of the way.  Closest to the jack gets the most points and wins.

Bocce originated in Italy (boccia means to bowl in Italian…).  Whilst the game may be relatively small in the US, USAbocce.com are working hard to raise the professionalism of Bocce.  Check it out… it may be the game for you!

The more I read about nature and its ways the more I realize how little we know as humans.  Actually the more I watch animals in their environment, the more I respect I have for nature.

I watched a program on how animals are aware of coming disasters like the tsunami, they all moved to higher ground and away from danger… now that’s amazing!!

We think we are so clever, but if we go back to nature and use some natural design techniques, we could be even smarter.  Technology is cool, but you have to wonder… have we become slaves to our gadgets??  A flat battery and watch how people lose it when they can’t use their phone.  We have become so reliant on our gadgets that when they don’t work we are hopeless.

Maybe one day we will all go back to a more natural way of life… a sustainable one…

I just can’t emphasize enough, the fact that you have to know your blackjack odds if you want to win at blackjack.  To give yourself advantage over the dealer, you have to know when to hit and and when to sit.

There are a lot of odds to know for the different situations and I know it is difficult to remember them all.  One tip, if you are playing online blackjack, you can get a blackjack odds calculator, which will help you work out the odds and tell you what to do.

It gives you so much more confidence going into the game knowing that you are making the right decision.  You may not always win, thats the game… but the chances are greater of winning.  Whatever it takes to learn the odds for blackjack, you have to do it.  Remember the dealer already has an advantage over you which you have to negate and then turn around, so that the advantage lies with you.

Playing blackjack in a tournament is different to playing at a regular blackjack table in a casino or online.  The fundamental difference with blackjack tournaments strategy is that you play against other players and not just against the dealer, as in normal blackjack games.  Otherwise the rules are pretty much the same as regular blackjack.

Thats what has made tournament blackjack so popular is the competitive nature.  Everyone likes to try and beat the house, but it gets a bit one dimensional after a while, you never really know how good you are, apart from how high your stack is or how full your pockets are… But when you play against the other players often, then you will get an idea of where you fit into the ranking.

All you have to learn to do, when you want to play blackjack to win, is beat the dealer.

Sounds simple I know, but many beginners forget this simple message.  There’s only one person to beat… its between you and the dealer… the problem is that the dealers can either beat your hand or go bust themselves, and if you don’t stick in the right place you gonna get stuck!

The other thing you can do to try and beat the house, is watch the movie “21″ and learn some blackjack tricks.  The Blackjack Institute is also a good place to learn the basics of card counting and then its just a matter of lots of hard work putting it into practice.

Don’t forget there is still an element of chance, so don’t get mad when you get beaten by the dealer a few times… trust me, it happens.  The thing is to beat the dealer more often and when the stakes are higher!
