I got asked a common question the other day, “Is it a good blackjack strategy to follow the dealer and do exactly what they do?”.

The answer is “No”.

And anyway what fun is there in doing exactly what the dealer does.  If you play blackjack exactly the same as the house, the house will always win because of the house edge.  A house edge of 5.7% will slowly eat into your chip stack.  The casino ensures that the odds are not in your favor.

You have to outplay the dealer to be able to beat them.  It is no good trying to side with the dealer, when you both go bust, you lose anyway.  Stick to your tried and tested strategy chart and don’t try and get clever!
